Steve White is a British artist who explores landscape through the interplay of time, light and colour. His paintings, etchings and lithographs reflect a long standing engagement with the natural world and its shifting atmospheres. Shropshire, with its diversity of woods, rivers, hills and unique habitats such as the Whixall Mosses, are a constant source of inspiration. But his work is not limited to these subjects for during his widespread travels he may be inspired by mountains, coastlines or cities he encounters resulting in both figurative and abstract works such as recent a ‘Venice’ series. Drawing is a skill which he constantly practices for this determines the control of gesture and quality of outcome of even the most abstract brushwork. Drawing, including pastel, also leads from time ot time to some one off projects, in other fields, such as studies of ballet and dance.
Recent exhibitions include ‘Paintings’ at the Bear Steps Gallery, Shrewsbury, 18th - 30th August 2025, and participation in the ‘End of Summer Show’ which closed on 13th September 2025.
